Traditionally, electricity is billed after the fact; you receive a monthly bill for the power you used over the previous month. With Prepaid Power, you pay for electricity in advance and use it until your balance runs low. It works much like filling up your car with gas. When the gauge gets low, you refill it and if you can’t fill it completely, you add what you can.

Once you’re enrolled, you choose how much to pay and continue using electricity as usual. You’ll receive updates on your energy usage, giving you greater awareness of how much power you’re consuming. When your balance gets low, simply “fill the tank” again. You can add enough electricity for a few days, a week, or even months at a time. Since you’re paying upfront, you’re in control of how much electricity you purchase.

Prepaid power is ideal for customers who prefer not to pay a deposit—or are unable to—when starting electric service. It’s also a great choice for anyone who wants more control over their monthly energy costs. One key advantage of prepaid power is increased awareness of daily electricity use, and studies show that customers on prepaid plans can reduce their energy consumption by up to 10%.

Almost all residential members are eligible for prepaid power. Some restrictions do apply, including those with loans or other contracts.

New customers wishing to set up a prepaid power account must complete the standard process for application for service including $25 connection fee and a $100 minimum payment on their prepaid account.
